"I retrained when my second baby was just 6 months old to teach postnatal classes and now also teach antenatal classes. Meeting parents to be and supporting them on their journey through pregnancy and their baby’s first year is truly special.

I think before I had children I had quite a romantic and unrealistic impression of birth and motherhood. My first birth couldn’t have been more different to what I had ‘planned’ in my mind. Likewise I had a very challenging experience in the early weeks with a newborn and breastfeeding. My own personal experience really drives me to support new parents, by managing expectations and preparing them for birth in the best way possible, with up to date information delivered in a supportive and non-judgemental way.

My second birth was a planned c-section and was a truly beautiful and empowering experience. I often use it as an example of how ‘positive birth’ is different for everyone. I am a huge advocate for changing the language that surrounds abdominal birth and respecting that however your baby is born, it is their birthday and your ‘birth day’

My two children could not be more different, one birth was difficult, one was amazing, one was bottle fed, one was breastfed, one cried a lot, one smiled a lot, one was fed purees, one did baby led weaning, one was a late walker, one was an early crawler. I always say, my babies were made of the same ingredients but they are still both so different! So it’s so important not to compare yourself to others. Your journey is unique and personal to you.

The Mummas Village is inclusive of all; however you birth, however you feed, however you choose to parent your child. We all have that one thing in common, having a baby is totally life changing and the village is there to celebrate the highs and navigate the lows.... acknowledging that that is ok too!

I love working with expectant parents and sharing their excitement and anticipation, my absolute favourite messages to receive are birth announcements! Then seeing babies from just weeks old right through to little characters toddling about in baby classes... it’s a complete joy!

I look forward to seeing you soon in The Village!"
